This piece won Best of Show at the 2000 Tulsa Indian Art Festival and 3rd place in the wheelthrown category at the 2000 Five Civilized Tribe’s Art Under the Oaks show in Muskogee, OK. The figures in this piece were found on engraved shell fragments from the Spiro Mounds in Oklahoma. These men in canoes are believed to be the only known depiction of boats in pre-historic Southeastern archaeology.
